"I had terrible hot flashes that would make me break out in a sweat and feel like I was in an oven! Flashes really do flash – I’d be fine one minute and the next I would be boiling!

What about my earlier experience with acupuncture? I noticed that those treatments were kind of cookie-cutter. The practitioner didn’t speak English well, so he didn’t ask me much and just repeated the same treatment over and over again. I would highly, highly recommend anyone who is seeking a seasoned acupuncturist or a second opinion to a medical doctor’s diagnosis. I’ve been seeing Ron on a weekly basis for roughly two years now. Acupuncture has been a critical part of my recovery from spinal cord surgery and has significantly reduced my pain levels. The most surprising effect is the immediate reduction in pain. The analogy I always use is that the pain is like pressure that builds up and acupuncture is like a pressure relief valve that can cut pain levels in half and keep it there for days at a time.

One of the many unique elements that Ron provides his patients is a breadth of understanding of the human body including many subtleties of biology that are commonly overlooked by other doctors in my experience. During the year that I was seeing many medical doctors and trying to understand the source of the nerve pain in my arms, Ron always suggested that the origin of the pain was in my neck, while the medical doctors where so certain that the origin was in my arms that they convinced me to schedule surgery on my arms. After some research and remembering Ron’s advice I finally convinced the medical doctors to conduct an MRI of my neck which resulted in the discovery of a tumor in my cervical spinal cord. Essentially Ron saved my life because if I had had the surgery on my arms I would likely be a quadriplegic as a result of the tumor damaging my spinal cord tissue.

Ron is able to draw upon his many decades of experience including treatment of the most intractable cases in Chinese hospitals that were referred to his group after conventional medical practices came up short in progressing recovery. As a research scientist and engineer I am one of the most skeptical personalities when it comes to buying in to unproven treatments. What I do know is that acupuncture has been around for over 2000 years and that I have immensely benefited from it.
